The Empire State of Pizza
The Empire State of Pizza
Pie, Za', Pizza. These are just some of the different names that Americans call Pizza. If you're moving to New York, I hope you realize that you're going to eat some of the best Pizza in the world and some of the worst.
This list is ranked from worst to best (or maybe not)
You probably think 99c Pizzas are pretty bad…well you're wrong. Some of the worst pizzas are the ones you get in restaurants. Sure, they're not terrible. However, they don't really tend to meet the standard of New York Pizza. There are many types of New York Pizza.
1. The most notable is the 99c Pizza you see late at night. It may taste better when alcohol is in the process. Really depends on the person.
2. Joe's Pizza. Joe's Pizza is one of the oldest and most famous Pizza spots in New York. For those who have seen Spiderman 2, Peter Parker briefly works at Joe's Pizza before he's fired (spoiler alert - whoops). If you want to try Joe's Pizza, I recommend getting there before the line starts. I think 7 or 8 am would be the best time if you wish to have it for lunch.
(Yeah....check the line, we weren't messing) |
3. Prince Street Pizza. Funnily enough, Prince Street Pizza is located on Prince Street. The vodka pizza sauce is to die for. Seriously, you have to try it. You're not a real New Yorker if you haven't tried it. Although there are thousands of unique Pizza places to try in New York, I'll recommend one more.
4. That's Scarr's Pizza. Located near Chinatown, Scarr's Pizza is probably the most exciting pizza you'll ever have. The pizza is good (I'd say it is on the same level as Prince Street). However, there is a spicy honey glaze they offer. The taste of sweetness and spice just works. Don't ask me why; I am not a chef. I promise you. This should be on your bucket list of things to try before you die. Once you're here, we would love to hear more about which other pizza places have spoken to you.
TLDR:
1.99c Pizzas
2. Joe's Pizza
4. Scarr's Pizza
